Everyone has their own nostalgic memories and rituals… For some, it is sitting down with a bowl of popcorn, a few friends or family members, and a movie. We love celebrating these “movie theatre moments,” so we wanted to share a healthy version of this classic snack/party food! No fancy equipment is required to make popcorn – just a tall pot, organic popcorn kernels, Silkeny Coconut Oil, and a few spices. Ready, set, go!
- 1/2 cup organic popcorn kernels
- 1/3 cup Silkeny Coconut Oil, (melted)
- 1 additional heaping tbsp of Silkeny Coconut Oil
- 2 tbsp nutritional yeast
- 1/2 tsp garlic salt
- 1 tsp turmeric
- pinches pink himalayan salt
Heat up the heaping tablespoon of coconut oil in a pot, at medium heat. Add the popcorn kernels, stir, and close the lid. Stay close by, so you can stir and shake the pot often; the kernels should take less than 5 minutes to pop!
In the mean time, add the salt and spices to the 1/3 cup melted coconut oil, and stir evenly. After all the kernels have popped, add the buttery mixture and fold until the popcorn is evenly coated.
